With the upcoming deployment of the HueCubed v1.1 engine just days away, we’re happy to share some other great news. HueCubed has just purchased the K12Flashcards.com domain. What’s the plan? HueCubed will begin launching more Internet properties to cater to other niche markets. PMPrepFlashcards was to help people with their PMP® Exam preparation. K12Flashcards will help kids from Kindergarten to High School with common studies.
You’ve probably seen other sites out there trying to satisfy the need for flashcards. They offer you the ability to upload the front and the back of the flashcard. Well, we’re going to do all of that work for you. In addition, we’ll target all of the general studies like math, science, history, and social studies. We’ll break it down by category like elementary, middle school, and high school so you can find the flash cards that will meet your needs.
HueCubed was originally created to strictly meet the needs of the Project Management community. After seeing watching/listening Jason Calacanis on a a weekly basis and reading the book REWORK, by 37Signals, it became clear this product could scale and scale big. So, in the coming months, HueCubed will begin to launch more sites running the HueCubed engine.
Thank you for your support. The best is yet to come.

I just visited Virtacore Systems in Ashburn, Virginia. Since HueCubed became a customer of PowerVPS, a wholly owned brand of Virtacore Systems, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to meet the people behind the scenes. We became a customer after hearing Jason Calacanis identify PowerVPS as one of the sponsors of This Week In Start-Ups, a very entertaining and informative show for entrepreneurs. I’ve found Jason’s insights and advice very valuable over the course of the last year and didn’t think he would steer us wrong. When HueCubed was ready to launch v1.0 back in March, we compared several providers and chose PowerVPS to host the first of our web applications. I think we chose wisely.
So, Virtacore has been hosting the Walk in the Cloud Seminar Series. At the seminar, VMWare did a presentation of vSphere™ 4 and then Virtacore provided a tour of their facility. Though the VMWare presentation was informative and enjoyable, words can not describe how utterly over-the-top the facility is. It’s secure, it’s stylish, and it’s huge! Several of the Virtacore management team were present during the seminar and they were very gracious with their time. They provided breakfast and even gave away an iPad.
When I introduced myself to Thomas Kiblin, Virtacore’s CEO and Founder, I totally fumbled through my elevator pitch. What can I say, maybe I should have called into Jason’s Shark Tank last week and gotten some pointers. When Tom asked for my business card, I was a little embarrassed. I didn’t even have a real business card to give to him! Being HueCubed is still in its infancy as a start-up, we focused on getting the product deployed first. I’m sure all the rest will happen in time.
It was great chatting with Tom,
Scott Simko, and others. The experience was completely awesome.
As a disclaimer, I am not being compensated by PowerVPS, Virtacore Systems, or anyone else for this post. I’m just a very satisfied customer who looks forward to scaling a web start-up and knowing we have at least one thing covered.
While reading the PMBOK, we noticed a tiny but notable item in Chapter 6. It’s notable because when you sit for the PMP exam, there are a lot of “which answer is more correct?” questions being asked. On pages 139 and 140, the three types of dependencies are defined. If you didn’t know, they are mandatory, discretionary, and external.
Here is the notable part. The PMBOK stated the project team determines which dependencies are mandatory and discretionary. But, it states the project management team determines which dependencies are external.
The project team and the project management team are not the same thing. The three paragraphs describing each of the dependencies are written so similarly, it could be overlooked.
The project management team is defined on page 444 of the PMBOK.
Project Management Team. The members of the project team who are directly involved in project management activities. On some small projects, the project management team may include virtually all of the project team members.
If you look for the definition of Team, Team Members, or Project Team Members in the Glossary, you’re going to be disappointed. Team does not appear. Team Members states “See project team members.” Unlike what Team Members states, there is no definition for Project Team Members.
